Sir Terry Pratchett:
Life, Works, and Tributes

Sir Terry Pratchett receives SFWA's Kate Wilhelm Solstice Award
SFWA (Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America, the genre professionals' organisation) has announced that the 2016 recipient of the Kate Wilhelm Solstice Award is Sir Terry Pratchett, posthumously. Previous honorees include Octavia Butler, James Tiptree, Jr., Tom Doherty, Carl Sagan, and Stanley Schmidt. The award is for individuals who have had a significant impact on the science fiction or fantasy landscape, and is particularly intended for those who have consistently made a major positive difference within the speculative fiction field.

Sir Terry Pratchett Scholarship
Sir Terry Pratchett has left an enduring legacy, endowing a $100,000 scholarship to be awarded every other year to a student at the University of South Australia. The successful candidates will be able to spend  a year at Trinity College Dublin in Ireland, with which Terry also had strong links.

Jack Cohen introduced me to Terry in 1990 at Novacon, the Birmingham Science Fiction Group's annual convention, and it changed my life. Terry generously allowed us to play in his universe, and together we wrote the four Science of Discworld books. When Warwick University awarded Terry an honorary degree, he made us honorary wizards of Unseen University.
