Manifold Magazine
MANIFOLD was a student mathematical fanzine, started at the University of Warwick in 1968. It eventually ran to 20 issues. The button below leads to the complete run of the magazine indexed as separate articles. Individual buttons and covers lead to slideshows of single issues.
Scans are low-resolution, to reduce download time, but legible. Any poor print quality mainly comes from the original printing process.
The early issues of MANIFOLD were typed on to stencils, duplicated by hand, and stapled together. Letraset was used for headings. The technology was rudimentary in those days. Later it was printed from hard copy, but still stapled. It achieved regular sales of about 600 copies, making it a collector's item. It can still be found in various libraries around the globe.
John Jaworski, one of the founding editors, started to put MANIFOLD online in 2001. Two issues (#10 and #13) are available from John's website, along with information about the magazine. You can also find a brief article on wikipedia.
